Arrange a School Visit

Shadowing is St. Ambrose Academy's way of introducing potential new students to a typical day at the school, allowing them to spend a day experiencing life as a St. Ambrose student.

A day of shadowing begins in the morning, when the student and his parents meet with school principle Scott Schmiesing to determine a schedule for the day. Students typically attend classes with the grade they will be entering in the next academic year. The student will then be assigned to a particular St. Ambrose student who will personally welcome him or her, introduce him to the life of the school, and generally try to make him comfortable.

Teachers attempt to involve shadowing students and familiarize them with the general environment and style of teaching at St. Ambrose. Between classes, shadowing students are welcomed into the school's active social life. Clare, a freshman, says: "It's a great way to see the school first-hand and get to know teachers and students personally in a welcoming environment." Placement tests may also be taken.

Shadowing is available for students of all the grade levels offered by St. Ambrose, and it does not imply any commitment to enroll. A school uniform is not necessary. Please contact School Secretary Katie Haun at (608) 827-5863 to schedule a shadowing day.
