Job Description

We seek a part- or full-time bookkeeper / business officer to join our team of committed educators as we strive to assist parents in the formation of their children through a classical education rooted in the Catholic faith. The current half-time position, “Operations Assistant,” handles the school’s financial transactions and record keeping, providing a variety of Front Desk and back-office supports to the Principal and board Treasurer. However, an expanded position for the right candidate could include more responsibility with admissions and other school systems.

Work Environment

St. Ambrose Academy is a 6–12 grade private Catholic classical academy located in Madison, Wisconsin with a rapidly growing student body and a vibrant Catholic community.

  • Daily prayer, regular access to the Eucharist and Confession
  • Emphasis on formation of the whole person
  • Respectful students and supportive families

A high school diploma and proficiency with math, spreadsheets, and bookkeeping software is required for the bookkeeper position. A bachelor’s degree is required for a position with more responsibility. The successful candidate is highly motivated and ready to take initiative to ensure business operations run smoothly, bringing a high capacity for planning, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and staying in control of detail as part of a winning business office team. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are needed. A signed statement in support of our Catholic mission is required of all employees.
