St. Ambrose Academy welcomes Jess Sheridan to our faculty!
Jess brings a dynamic background in science and a deep love for the Catholic faith to her new role as the Biology II teacher at St. Ambrose Academy. Born and raised in Michigan, Jess earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiology from Michigan State University. Her career has spanned both academic research and clinical science, and she currently manages a team of scientists at Exact Sciences, specializing in laboratory automation and robotics.
Jess and her husband, Gabe, have lived in the Madison area for over 12 years and are parents of two St. Ambrose students, Ashton and Addie. Outside of work, Jess is happiest outdoors—whether hiking, gardening, or “anything in the dirt”. She’s an avid ultimate frisbee player, a scuba diver with dreams of exploring the Red Sea, and a passionate traveler with an ever-growing sense of wonder at the world.
Deeply involved in her community, Jess is on the board of St. Vincent de Paul, active in parish life at Divine Mercy Parish, specifically at St. Christopher’s in Verona, and a member of the Healing Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Jess is excited to begin her teaching journey with Biology II. She’s especially eager to connect scientific concepts to real-world applications, helping students understand not just the “what” but the “why” behind what they’re learning. “There’s so much knowledge out there,” she says, “but my hope is that I can instill the basic concepts that seem theoretical or hypothetical information and make them accessible and engaging – to make science fun!”
