Who We Are: Classical

What is Classical Education?

The beginning of a classical education is training students in the time-tested disciplines of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, studies that give students tools to become self-learners for the rest of their lives. At St. Ambrose, this foundation begins by building up a repository of knowledge, training in skills of analysis to unpack and digest information, and finally engaging in expression of ideas through written forms and Socratic dialogue. A liberal arts education is a rich foundation for academic pursuits and careers in any discipline as students learn to make connections across a variety of subject matter and receive the tools to take ownership of their learning.

Who We Are: Catholic

Educating the Whole Person

Our motto, taken from the works of our patron saint, says it all: “Christ is Everything for Us”. An authentic Catholic education brings together the best in academic preparation and spiritual formation to form the integral person – soul (intellect, will, emotions) and body. Rooted in a relationship with Jesus Christ and clear in one’s human and Christian identity and purpose, students gain confidence to boldly step forward on the path of adulthood as a missionary disciple.

Who We Are: Close-Knit

Fostering Intentional Community

There is great joy found in a learning environment where relationships are fostered, creating a Catholic Christian community where each member is known and valued for the person God created them to be. Our small class sizes and individualized approach mean that students have access to the kind of mentorship – through skilled faculty like our chaplain, Dean of Students, Guidance Counselor, and College Counselor – to guide students to their greatest potential. Through the rigorous classical curriculum, students find their voice and learn to express themselves through Socratic dialogue, preparing them to be leaders who can pass on the gifts they have received.
