Job Description
St. Ambrose Academy is seeking a Special Education Teacher with a background in math and/or Latin to support students with learning differences, particularly dyslexia, in Geometry, Algebra 2, and Latin I.
This role includes co-teaching, individualized support, and developing dyslexia-friendly curriculum. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education and skilled in multi-sensory instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-teach Geometry, Algebra 2, and Latin I with classroom teachers
- Support students with Learning Support (LS) plans through differentiated instruction
- Develop dyslexia-friendly curriculum using Math and Latin texts
- Incorporate multi-sensory teaching strategies (auditory, visual, tactile, kinesthetic)
- Create instructional videos, reference charts, and modified pacing guides
- Provide weekly one-on-one support sessions for students
- Assess student progress through homework, quizzes, and tests
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and resources

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Background in math and/or Latin (instructional experience preferred)
- Experience working with students with dyslexia or learning differences
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
- Experience with Geometry, Algebra II, and/or Familia Romana
- Secondary classroom or co-teaching experience
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic, willing to make an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium, whose life of faith serves as an example to our students and families.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; be adaptable to the student needs; and demonstrate a desire to share their gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school.
