Mrs. Laura Zimmerman is a tremendous asset to the St. Ambrose Academy community as a Learning Coach supporting students and faculty in countless ways!
Together, with her husband Chuck, Laura is the proud parent of four St. Ambrose Academy alumni and three current students – so she knows the ins and outs of the Academy well. Her deep care for young people, love for our Faith, and joyful spirit makes her an incredible asset to the team.
Laura began her studies in vocal performance at Lakeland College (now University) but felt called to focus on the vocation of marriage and family life. Her love of music has remained a constant – she began signing at the age of 15 and she has continued without interruption for the past 35 years. Laura hones her skills through periodic lessons and shares her gifts in both parish settings and professionally as part of the Diocesan Schola.
Liturgical music is part of Laura’s DNA. Her mother served as the organist at St. Aloysius for 40 years, and her father built and tuned pipe organs – an art Laura still participates in today, assisting her brother during tuning visits to area churches.
At St. Ambrose, Laura’s responsibilities include supervising study halls where she has the pleasure of forming strong connections with students saying, “I love talking with them and hearing their conversations during study halls – they really are picking up what’s being taught here, and study halls are a great place to see and hear that in action.”
Laura also supports students as a part of the Learning Services team. In this role, she loves “being with the kids who spend time exercising their incredible knowledge in a place where they can use our Learning Services spaces to best fit their individual learning styles and needs.”
A woman of many talents, Laura also enjoys embroidery, sewing, cooking, baking, and creating beautiful spaces to gather. She’s a passionate and talented hostess (with a deep love for cheese and wine), and a collector of antique linens and Catholic art.
We are overjoyed to have Laura as a part of this community, where her warmth, wisdom, and witness will continue to bless our community even more.
