Eric Olson

Director

“From the moment we encountered this community, we immediately felt at home. We are truly blessed to have St. Ambrose Academy in the Madison area, with its unique, faith-based environment.”

Eric Olson joins the St. Ambrose Academy Board of Directors and brings extensive experience in leadership and business administration. After rising in the ranks, Eric became a co-owner of a local insurance firm before selling the company in 2011. After determining retirement wasn’t calling him just yet, he joined the Hausmann Group and continues to serve as a Senior Property & Casualty Consultant and Principal.

Born and raised in northern Minnesota, it is no surprise that Eric is a lifelong hockey enthusiast! His passion for the sport continued through high school and then college, where he was captain from sophomore through senior year. Since moving to the Madison area, Eric has invested in the hockey community in coaching positions for nearly three decades. He currently serves as the Waunakee Varsity Men’s Hockey coach. In 2009, he was part of a small team that led the Waunakee community in the building of The Ice Pond, a community arena, where he continues to serve as the chairman and president of the Board.

He and his wife Juli are members of St. John the Baptist parish in Waunakee and have both benefited from their personal experiences in Catholic schools. Eric deeply believes that a faith-based education rounds out the formation of a young person, equipping them to persevere in hard times and thrive in great times. They were first introduced to St. Ambrose Academy through friends when exploring high school options for their youngest son, a current sophomore, and were deeply impressed by the mature, articulate students they encountered, faculty who care deeply for students, and the strong classical curriculum.

As a family, the Olsons enjoy traveling together whether it’s renting an RV and driving to Mt. Rushmore, enjoying the rugged beauty of Yellowstone National Park, or enjoying a more tropical destination like the Caribbean.
