In Memory

Tom Delaney

The late Tom Delaney, who passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, was a champion of the educational vision of St. Ambrose Academy since its founding, 20 years ago. In honor of Tom, the family is encouraging gifts made in his honor in lieu of flowers, to support the ongoing Christ Our Light campaign for St. Ambrose Academy to have a permanent home. Tom was eager to see St. Ambrose thrive and gifts made in his honor will help the Academy do just that.

So God has called our wonderful friend Tom onward into eternity. How many memories fill our hearts and minds! From our earliest days as a school, Tom and his darling wife Nan were the nurturing and ministering spirits watching over our students.

When we’d throw an introductory event and just hope supporters would show up, Tom and Nan never failed to appear, hand in hand, bringing the sunshine with them. Just like Grandpa and Grandma, they came anywhere St. Ambrose students were to be found. I can’t begin to count the number of memories I have of them at the very head of the crowd cheering us on, Tom with that mischievous smile and irresistible twinkle in his eye, his arm protectively and lovingly around Nan, the heart of his heart, radiating warmth and affection. They were the perfect model of what we all aim for: a loving marriage, a happy family, faithful hearts, joyful souls. Requiescat in pace. May flights of angels sing him to his rest.
