Colleen Fimister brings a diverse background in education, theology, history, mathematics, and technology to St. Ambrose Academy. She began her higher education at Thomas Aquinas College, studying in the Great Books tradition, and later earned a B.A. in History, pursued graduate studies in theology, and completed a graduate certificate in software engineering.

Professionally, she has taught mathematics, history, and English, tutored students of all ages, developed curriculum, and worked in educational administration. “Throughout my career, I’ve enjoyed helping students discover that learning is about much more than memorizing information,” Colleen said, “it’s about developing the confidence to think clearly, solve problems, and continue growing throughout life.”

Colleen and her husband, Alan, recently moved to Wisconsin with their three daughters and are excited to become part of the St. Ambrose community, which she was attracted to because of its commitment to authentic Catholic teaching, academic excellence, and classical tradition.

“One of the things I value most about Catholic education”, she shared, “is its understanding that faith and reason complement one another. Whether students are studying mathematics, science, history, literature, or theology, each discipline helps us better understand the truth, beauty, and order of God’s creation.”

Outside of teaching, she enjoys mathematics, technology, history, programming, painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, interior design, and traveling with her family. She is especially looking forward to helping St. Ambrose students develop confidence in mathematics and discover the joy of learning, problem-solving, and overcoming challenges.
