Dr. Constance Nielsen

Dean of Faculty, Head of Curriculum, English, Religion, and Latin

“I like how classical methods bring the joy of discovery and curiosity to young people.”

Dr. Constance Nielsen has been with St. Ambrose since its founding. Serving in various roles throughout the years, Connie is currently Dean of Faculty and Head of Curriculum. When hiring new faculty members, Connie chooses people who are natural teachers, love their subject, and share that love with their students. A recipient of the Outstanding Catholic Educator Award from the Diocese of Madison, Connie will also be teaching English, religion, and Latin this year.

In addition to her work at St. Ambrose, Connie also travels throughout the diocese and southern Wisconsin to speak on Catholic social teaching. She’s taught theology at Marquette, UW-Madison, and Edgewood, and lectured for the Madison Diocesan Lay Institute and the Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute.

Connie holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in religious studies from Marquette University and a B.S. in English literature and classical humanities from UW-Madison.
