Welcome Mr. Gabriel Arango to St. Ambrose Academy!
Gabriel joins the faculty of St. Ambrose Academy with a deep love of learning and a desire to share the joy of wonder found in academic studies with his students. Originally from Alabama, Gabriel attended Christendom College, where he double-majored in Classics and Philosophy. It was there that he first felt the spark of wonder, particularly in discovering the rich connections between Plato, St. Augustine, and the Catholic faith, which has guided his academic journey ever since.
After college, Gabriel pursued graduate studies at UW–Madison, earning a Master of Arts degree in Classics. While there, he discovered a passion for teaching, especially through his work as a TA and a semester teaching an undergraduate Latin class. While continuing studies toward a doctoral degree, he felt called to step away from academia and focus on the aspect of his work that brought him the most joy: teaching.
Gabriel is eager to join the St. Ambrose community, saying “It reminds me a lot of my time at Christendom, a close-knit environment with a strong Catholic character and a deep interest in studying with an eye toward the Truth.”
Outside the classroom, Gabriel enjoys playing chess and all sorts of outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and scuba diving – a hobby he picked up recently and hopes to explore further. He also has a soft spot for animals, especially cats and goats, having grown up on a farm.
We are delighted to welcome Gabriel and look forward to the insights, dedication, and joyful pursuit of truth he will bring to our school!
