Katie Behrens

Director of Student Activities, English and Grammar

“God is a creator. We’re made in his image and likeness. Therefore, we have an intimate connection with creating and making.”

Katie Behrens has taught English and grammar at St. Ambrose for the past seven years and serves as the Director of Student Activities for the school. Katie appreciates how intuitive and natural the classical teaching method is and also truly enjoys spending time with her students, whom she finds articulate, confident, measured in their opinions, guided by Our Lord, and funny too!

The intersection of our faith and creativity is an enduring passion of Katie’s. She’s published articles about creativity and Catholic characters in literature in library journals. She loves reading modern Catholic writers like Flannery O’Connor and exploring the Catholic response to the modern world.

Katie has a B.A. in English language and linguistics and a certificate in Integrated Liberal Studies, as well as a Master’s in Library and Information Studies from UW-Madison. She also cantors for several area churches. In her free time, Katie enjoys doing puzzles and cross-stitching. In the summer, you might spot her working in concessions at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
