Maria Marsland is a proud alumna of St. Ambrose Academy, graduating in 2018. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing and Vocal Performance in 2023. After working as a registered nurse in the UW Health Burn ICU and later with Agrace Hospice, Maria returned to St. Ambrose to work in Learning Services while pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Divine Mercy University.
As one of seven children, Maria grew up in a large Catholic family, and all seven siblings attended St. Ambrose. Now, she enjoys giving back to the school that helped shape her own academic and spiritual foundation. In Learning Services, she is passionate about helping students recognize their strengths, build confidence, and become capable and independent learners.
Maria also remains actively involved in the arts at St. Ambrose as one of the vocal directors for the school musical and through teaching voice lessons. Outside of school, she enjoys crocheting plushies and blankets, reading, traveling (visiting beautiful churches and Catholic pilgrimage sites like Lisieux, Paray-le-Monial, and Rome) and spending time with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Maria is grateful for the opportunity to return to St. Ambrose and work alongside some of the teachers who once taught her. She hopes to help students know that they are valued and capable, and to encourage them to become the people God is calling them to be.
