BAND NOTES

Band is open to all students at St. Ambrose Academy.

Band is offered to students at St. Ambrose by Overture Band Programs Inc, a non-profit
organization providing band programs to private and parochial schools and home schooled
students in Dane County.

Students who join band receive a weekly 25 minute, semi-private lesson and a weekly 45
minute large group band rehearsal. Band students learn how to play and care for the band
instrument of their choice, how to read music, participate in two performance opportunities
during the school year and are exposed to a variety of music to help develop an affective
appreciation of music. Lessons will be held on Wednesday mornings. Full group band
rehearsal will be on Friday mornings from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m.

The cost of the band program is $650 for the school year. This calculates out to about
$22.50 per week (which is less than the cost of private lessons and offers more opportunities for
the students!) We offer several different payment plan options. The cost of band does not
include the cost of an instrument. Overture Band Programs works closely with the music
store White House of Music. They can provide instruments and all necessary supplies (lesson
books, reeds, etc.) needed, and a store representative stops in the area once a week during the
school year.

Students who were in band last year were mailed re-registration materials in July. You can also
find registration materials and more information about our program on our website –
www.overturebandprograms.weebly.com. Registrations are due before school starts. The first
day of group band will be Friday, September 8th. The first day of small group lessons will be
Wednesday, September 13th.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Nadine Kerl, band director, at
