Given by Dr. John Joy, St. Ambrose Academy Dean of Faculty and Religion teacher:

St. John the Evangelist is symbolized by the eagle because of the soaring heights of contemplation revealed in his writings. The Gospel of John is full of depth and symbolizing revolving around the number seven, which signifies completion or perfection. The opening chapters parallel the seven days of creation in Genesis; there are seven feast days and seven miracles, culminating in the ultimate miracle of the Resurrection and the new feast of Easter. Come and experience the joy of entering more deeply into the Mystical Gospel.

Given by Dr. Geoffrey Ludvik, St. Ambrose Academy History teacher:

The Dark Ages are often considered a low point in the history of European civilization but this view doesn’t take into account historical evidence, especially from the Middle East. This talk will focus on the achievements of civilization following the collapse of Rome, centered in the Eastern Mediterranean with a focus will be on the Byzantine world and Islamic Civilization. We will be discussing this topic using archaeological sites at which Dr. Ludvik has worked.

Given by Ms. Katie Behrens, St. Ambrose Academy English teacher:

Join Ms. Katie Behrens for a talk on objective and subjective qualities in many art forms, the purpose of learning more about the forms, and the training of one’s taste. There may or may not be a discussion of pro-wrestling involved. (You heard us!)

Teachers will walk them through the stages of film production. We’ll explore how movies are made, what digital technology is based upon, and how it works, and we’ll get to view some cool video to see how the pros do it.

Join St. Ambrose Academy for a faculty speaker event featuring Ms. Theresa Klinkhammer, SAA religion teacher and Director of Student Ministries. Ms. Klinkhammer will share a talk based on a text that is a part of our senior high religion curriculum and is especially timely for Catholics who want to incorporate their faith more into their daily lives.

Blessed Columba Marmion was a leader of the liturgical renewal in the early 20th century. His book, Christ in His Mysteries, shows how we enter into the mysteries of Christ’s life by living liturgically.

This talk will first delve into Marmion’s thought concerning participation in Christ’s mysteries and then explore this idea through looking at the power of the propers of the Mass, especially those of the Easter season.

After a fun, interactive virtual event last year, we’re thrilled to be back together in person for the 15th Annual Benefit Dinner! Gather a group and join us for a night of community and celebrate the continued growth of our school community as we raise support to advance the mission of St. Ambrose Academy.

Info and registration can be found at this link. $75/person, $250/group of four, $600/table of ten.

RSVPs due December 3. (This event is a great way to invite prospective parents to get a glimpse of the community, so don’t be shy!)

Spiritual Bouquet for Bishop Hying! If you cannot attend, you’re still encouraged to contribute prayers for Bishop Hying! Each year our community offers prayers in support of our shepherd, as we unite our work to the work of the Diocese and Holy Mother Church. Email Carolyn the number and type of prayer (Rosaries, Masses, Chaplets of Divine Mercy, days of fasting, etc…) to be included.

Volunteers Needed! In-person events also mean in person help is needed to welcome all our guests and create a memorable event for them! Check the Sign-Up Genius to sign up to help before, during, or after the fun.
