Textbook Assessment and Packing | June 3 & 5

Ms. Behrens needs help assessing the condition of our textbooks and possibly packing them for the move. Volunteers will rate every textbook on a scale from 1-4 and flip through pages, looking for graffiti to flag for further inspection. If work goes quickly, we might begin packing; if not, more volunteer house will be available later in June.

Adults and students with an eye for detail and quick judgment are highly requested! Snacks and music will be provided. Click the link below to sign up!

Moving Help Needed!

Movers Needed | May 23 & 24

We are in need of movers on Thu., May 23 and Fri., May 24, all day both days, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We will need 10 people each day to disassemble white boards, projector screens, and projectors. There will be more openings in June loading trailers and trucks. June dates will be added to the Sign-Up Genius at a later time.

Service hours earned during this work can be applied either to this year or to next year – what a great way to round out the year or get a head start on next year! Click the link below to indicate your availability. We need your help!

We only have ~6 more weeks of school. The last day you can fulfill your service hours is Sun., June 30.

Unfulfilled hours will be invoiced at the end of the school year at the rate of $15/hour to recover in part the actual costs of a family’s lack of service hours. Report cards will not be released until that commitment is met.

Guardians for Life Diaper Drive

The fall diaper drive starts this week and goes until next Thu., Oct. 19. We will be collecting diapers to donate to Babies and Beyond. Diapers can be dropped off in the pack-and-play in the front entryway.

Make sure to write your house on the diapers so they can be credited to your house’s total! House points will be given based on diapers collected. The house that collects the most diapers will get desserts sponsored by Guardians for Life!

Sizes newborn, 1, 2, and 3, as well as pull ups, are needed the most, but all sizes are accepted. Open packages, baby wipes and formula are also accepted.

Badger Football Gameday Volunteer Opportunity

Badger Football Gameday Volunteers

 

St. Ambrose Academy is again going to supply volunteers to be runners of food and beverages in the suites for UW Football games. We started this volunteer opportunity four years ago in which SAA benefited by over $12,000. Everyone that had a chance to volunteer since 2019 enjoyed the time they spent volunteering as they were able to meet other SAA families and serve the spectators in the air conditioned/heated suites. “Watching a few plays while serving and being part of the excitement as the fans cheered”, was a comment that the volunteers had after leaving Camp Randall. These volunteer hours will count towards the required volunteer hours required for SAA, and you can recruit your friends and neighbors to join the fun.

 

Details:

Take food and beverages to about 300 spectators (You are not taking orders or handling any transactions)

Arrive to Camp Randall 3 1/2 hours before game time

Depart shortly after the 4th quarter starts. (You can stay and watch the 4th quarter if you want)

Free meal from the concessions stand

Third Quarter Ends: Student Service Day

Spring Service Day | March 8

Spring might not feel like it’s right around the corner, but our all-school Spring Service Day is!

Plans are underway for 185 SAA students to go out into the community to be the hands and heart of God. We need MANY drivers/chaperones to make this day a success. Join us for this day and you will log 7.5 hours of volunteer time and get to work with some amazing students. Sign up at the link below, and include the number of seats in your vehicle.

First Quarter Ends: Student Service Day

At the close of the 1st. quarter, the students at St. Ambrose Academy will have an opportunity to participate in a service day in order to take our Gospel call to service and our love of Christ out into the community. On Friday, October 20, 2023 groups of students will be out in the Madison area working at crisis pregnancy centers, stocking food pantries, or just raking the lawn for retired religious. This is a required school-day activity for all of the students – please do not opt out unless it is a previously planned absence. Please complete the following form to give your student(s) permission to be taken off campus in the vehicle of a SAA staff member or parent.

Students will meet at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church (5405 Flad Ave. Madison, WI 53711) from 7:30am and NO later than 8am to attend 8:00am Mass.
Pick up time will be at 3:15pm at St. Maria Goretti.

Please consider chaperoning, we need a lot of volunteer parents. Please indicate on the bottom of this form or go to the SAA sign-up genius. Thank you!

Notes: Students can wear their work day clothes for Mass. They should bring a bag lunch unless directed otherwise.
As parent or legal guardian, you remain fully responsible for any legal responsibility that may result from any personal actions taken by your child.

Service Day Reminders | October 20

Service Day is THIS Fri., Oct. 20. Please take note of the following:

  • Arrival – 7:30 – 7:55 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti – NOT at St. Ambrose.
  • Mass – 8:00 a.m.
  • Car groups organize and depart for various work sites following the Mass.
  • Car groups return to St. Maria Goretti for debriefing, games, and closing activities
  • Dismissal is at 3:20 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.

Items to bring: work gloves, work clothes, snack, water bottle, and lunch. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, and in accordance with our non-uniform dress code (p. 46, Student Handbook)!
