Grammar and Religion

“Only in Christ is the mystery of man made clear, so an education must have Christ and His Church at the center in order to form the whole person in their walk towards eternity.”

Welcome Ms. Anne Cerjak!

Anne joins the faculty of St. Ambrose Academy as a Grammar and Religion teacher. She is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Catechetics. After graduation, she joined the Echo program through the University of Notre Dame, a two-year graduate program during which she taught theology in an all-girls high school in New Jersey while pursuing an M.A. in Theology.

As a Cuba City native, Anne grew up “in a Catholic family with a lot of teachers who planted the seeds of faith and teaching” in her at a young age. Her family is at the center of many favorite memories spent at their cabin “on ‘St. Joseph’s Acres’ in the middle of nowhere in northern Wisconsin” where you can find her fishing, swimming, sitting around a bonfire, running, and doing almost anything outdoors.

She also jumped on the sourdough train this summer and enjoys experimenting with gluten-free baking, so bakers and breadmakers are welcome to swap recipes and talk all things baking!

Anne has had many experiences that have reinforced her own path following the Lord’s call and seeing the beauty of our Faith lived out including attending Steubenville conferences in her youth and spending a summer as a missionary for the Apostolate of Family Consecration at Catholic Familyland in Ohio.

During her time as a missionary, in particular, “the Lord convicted me of the irreplaceable role of parents in forming their children to be courageous disciples in the world today. It is a gift to be a teacher and support parents in their vital role.”

Planning a return to the Midwest after years in the northeast, Anne saw a job opening at St. Ambrose “around the same time I was asking myself how I can teach my students not just what to think, but how to think. Looking at the many things evolving in our world today, I recognize an important need to form the next generation in how to pursue what is true, good, and beautiful so as to find Truth, Goodness, Beauty & Love Himself. I see the great role classical education can play in this and am looking forward to seeing the value of it firsthand.”

These convictions are certainly at home at St. Ambrose Academy and we are eager to see how the Lord will use Anne’s gifts in this community!
